Why do people think vehicle factory (OEM) navigation is not a good option?
I get sick of people looking at me like I’m stupid when they learn I have factory installed navigation in both our family vehicles (Honda Odyssey and Lexus IS 250). I always hear, “why didn’t your just buy a $100 portable one”?
Why – because the factory nav systems also include stuff like Bluetooth integrated with the stereo, a back-up camera, touch screen for radio, climate and all other controls, installed mic, voice recognition integrated into the steering wheel, other extras. I also just don’t like the look of junk hanging off the windshield and the power wire running over the dash. I’m never buying a car without the nav option again.
Well worth the extra $2000 – $3000 it might cost on a $30K car in my opinion. Yeah, it has a GPS and gives you directions. That’s roughly where the comparison to the portable ones end. To me, it’s well worth it.
Think I’m crazy, or do you agree?
We have it in all our cars just because it looks better, and why deal with having to go out and buy one if you can just buy a car with one already in it.
