what do you think of this poem?
So what does this life mean
and what does it cost?
I go for a walk but without her,
just wander rough in the park,
see more dirt than petals
in the dreamless beds.
I sit on a bench,
laugh at something I can’t explain
feel suddenly tired, deranged,
a bit daft.
Still don’t want to go home though
the life in photos hurts like a blade,
waits for me in odd places.
The best memories I have are fake;
faded like the kind of Western films
they show on Sundays.
I go to a shop
away from the city centre,
steal a magazine I don’t want,
for a buzz that doesn’t last long,
eyeball police cars in town
then go home, light a candle,
tear the phone off the wall
thinking what am I gaining
and what have I lost?
It seems written by a depressed person.
