In general, what kind of gas mileage does an automatic Toyota Rav4 get?

I’m speaking of the 4 cylinder model that is. Every time I ask a question concerning gas mileage, someone just refers me to fueleconomy.gov, but their estimates are far off from my experience. They listed a car I have as getting 24 mpg highway when I really get 34-35. So anyway, what kind of mileage can I expect out of a 4 cylinder automatic Rav4?
I forgot to add that I meant the front wheel drive version and not the 4X4.

Yes, the fueleconomy.gov site will tell you what various cars get on a same, standardized test, so you can appropriately compare one vehicle against another.

If you look up your current 34-35mpg vehicle (exact year, make/model, engine/transmission type), and http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/bymakemodelNF.shtml says that in its testing it gets 24mpg, then you are getting a ratio of 34.5:24 MPG in your real world:EPA testing. apply that ratio to the 4cyl automatic Toyota RAV4 (2008), which for the 2WD is listed as http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/bymodel/2008_Toyota_RAV4.shtml 24MPG combined, well… using your same great driving skills and techniques that is getting you 34.5 MPG in your current 24mpg vehicle, you should be able to get the same in the RAV4!

actual owners of the 2WD version seem to be reporting about 22-24mpg, which is really close to what the EPA’s fueleconomy.gov figures now are!
