Toddler afraid of his bed?

Anyone have a two year old afraid of his bed? I can’t figure it out. For the last two weeks he doesn’t want to go to bed because it’s scary. When I ask him what scares him, he points to his bed… specifically his mattress. I’ve changed the sheets, asked him about each stuffed animal, which he says are not scary. It’s something about his bed. I have gone in to find him sleeping on the floor or in the rocking chair. I don’t have any ideas what *specifically* happened to scare him. He’s got a pretty good vocabulary, but I don’t think he has the words to tel me. He just keeps saying “scary” and once he said something about a *monster* and *eyes*. He had Disney Cars on his bed, so I thought maybe the eyes on the cars were scary looking to him at night and I took those off. I put his Diego sheets on because he LOVES Diego. But he’s still scared. Tonight I am going to try plain blue sheets with no characters. Any other ideas??

I am not sure. My nephew use to start off in his bed and then end up on the floor. So we started just leaving the door open a little bit and we would put him in his bed after he fell asleep. I think it might just be a phase he is going through. Maybe the plain sheets will work. Do you have a night light in there? Maybe if you do try turning it off and see what he tell you then. If he is ok with it off then he might not bee able to see the monster eyes. hope you can get him to like his bed. Good Luck.
