Custom content objects flashing blue in The Sims 2?

I recently downloaded and configured a bunch of custom content for “The Sims 2″, and it worked wonderfully. I know I did it correctly, as I’ve been using custom content for a while now– only, I’ve had to re-download The Sims, and my custom content onto my new laptop as my old one crashed.

The thing is, I installed a “Stuff” pack (kitchen and bath), and now my furniture is flashing blue. The custom couches turned into random, black couches while the custom car turned into one the game already had. Some things (such as a custom bed) are still flashing.

The custom clothes, skintones, eyes, and everything like that are still fine and working. Any tips to get my furniture back to normal?

BE SURE there is a check in the box that says “Enable Custom Content”. If you checked this box during installation then close the game and restart it. This fixes the flashing blue problem for *most* people.

I’d just like to add that once you purchase a new expansion pack or stuff pack, you should always first back up your game as it says in the manual. This is because installing a new pack will sometimes corrupt your user files. I hope this hasn’t happened to you!
The following types of custom files are always safe for new expansions as you have discovered:
All makeup and facial texturing recolours – eyeshadow, eyeliner, blush, lipstick, and full-face makeup
All facial hair – eyebrows, stubble, and non-3d beards.
All genetics – eyes and skintones
All Body Shop recolours of Maxis meshes – clothing and accessories
Walls, floors, and ground cover

Anything else should be removed until you can test it with your new expansion or stuff pack.
