what do you do when a toy you have just bought for your child is recalled by the manufacturer?

I have bought one of Mattel’s Sarge characters from Cars the Movie and they are being recalled because of the paint used. Do I send it back to where I bought it from for a refund or just bin in and write off the loss?

I have the same problem! My daughters have loads of Polly Pocket stuff that they got for birthday and christmas presents. I’ve looked on some sites but can’t find anywhere to send them to.
Hopefully someone will post the answer her!
