How does Wiltons shimmer dust work?

I am making a cake for my little brothers birthday. It is a car, the new challenger to be specific, so I wanted the fondant to be shimmery like a metallic paint job would actually be. I bought Wiltons shimmer dust but it says to brush the cake with water and then sprinkle it on. Will that make the fondant all goopy? Could I work it into the fondant instead or just sprinkle it on top with no water? Also how much do I need? The cake is about the size of a 9×13 pan, and the container looks about like 1.5 T of shimmer dust. Is that enough? Any suggestions are appreciated! I really want his cake to look good!

don’t use water. use a little vodka or lemon extract, mix in shimmer dust and paint on cake with new paint brush. the vodka and lemon extract will evaporate and dry. i use this on cookies decorated with royal icing. if you use water it will stay sticky.
