Would it be cheaper to ship all of my belongings from Florida to Hawai’i, or just buy everything new?

I may be moving there. I only have a queen sized bed, some bedroom furniture and clothing. Also, how much do you think it’d be to ship my car there? Thanks!

Remember, you are moving. Whatever you move you will have to pay for as it has weight to it. I highly recommend that you sell the items you have now and purchase new when arriving in the islands. I would only take things like clothes and a laptop. It will cost you around $1500 (rough guess) to ship the car from the West Coast to Hawaii. Depending on the car, mileage, age, etc., sell it too and buy another in Hawaii.

Hawaii also has vehicle inspection and emission requirements other states may not have. If your car is older, consider selling it. If you are moving to O’ahu (Honolulu) they have a public transit system (bus) that is quite reasonable in price with monthly passes available at any 7-11 to get by until you can get a new ride when you get there.

Look for the cost of living to be more than what you have in Florida too. When I lived there, the $.99 Whopper cost $3.00. Good luck, island living isn’t for everyone. I lived there two years and loved every minute of it.
