Moving: How much can I expect to pay?

Hi! This is the first time I’ve moved with more than what fits in my car.:-) I’m up for a job in Seattle, which is 2300 miles from my current residence in Indianapolis. I have a one bedroom apartment. The only major furniture I have is: 1 queen size bed; 1 couch; 1 book case; one dining room table. I haven’t the slightest clue what it’s going to cost me to move. I can pack everything myself and drive my own car our there, but I would need someone to load/unload and drive all my stuff out there. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of what I can expect? Thanks a bunch!

Movers figure their fees by weight and distance. They can make a good guestimate of the weight of your goods by the square footage of your residence. You will be charged for the actual weight, not the estimate. A phone call to a moving company should net you the info you are looking for.

From what you describe, it sounds as though you’ll move very inexpensively–perhaps under $1500, or so…
